The Mobile Satsuma / Saraland Area

Our current town name originated with the gift of an orange from Japan, successfully cultivated and grown in the area since 1878. Our neighboring town of Saraland is on the way to Mobile from Satsuma. Just off I-65, our hotel welcomes guests in town on business, leisure, or a fun filled vacation. We are located near the Carnival Cruise Terminal, in case you are in town for an exciting cruise. No matter the reason, we hope you’ll make our hotel your home base while visiting Alabama. Comfortable accommodations, exceptionally friendly service, a convenient location, and a free Bright Side Breakfast® are just some of the modern conveniences we offer at La Quinta Inn & Suites Mobile Satsuma. Pets are welcome at our hotel.

While in the Gulf area, take a boat trip to observe the local wildlife, or cruise up the river delta into alligator country. If you only have an hour or so, Southern Belle offers a spin around the Fowl River area where visitors don’t want to miss Bellingrath Home and Gardens. Dauphin Island Park and Beach is connected to the mainland by a 3.5 mile bridge. Discover a public beach, fishing piers, bird sanctuary, historic Fort Gaines, biking, and picnicking opportunities at Cadillac Square. Here you can also fine, The Estaurium, a hands-on discovery center. The island has quite a history, having been mapped by the Spanish in the 16th century, colonized by French in the 17th century, attacked by pirates and then re-shaped by an intense hurricane in the 18th century.

Head downstairs for the free Bright Side Breakfast featuring waffles, eggs with sausage or bacon, fresh fruit, pastries, bagels and more. The outdoor swimming pool, Whirlpool, and fitness room are just the ticket and our free Wi-Fi lets you stay in touch. We have a Bright Side® Marketplace for food, beverages, and small purchases, and just beyond our front doorstep, find six restaurants sampling local cuisine.

Mobile Satsuma / Saraland Attractions

Our city lays claim to the first American Mardi Gras in 1703. To this day, we celebrate family style with popular parades like the Butterfly Maidens and Maids of Mirth. Downtown, visit the Mobile Carnival Museum for some history and character. For a blast from the past, we suggest the vintage Crescent Theater, Oakleigh House and Richards-DAR House. Our 1850 Cathedral Basilica with an organ and stained glass windows is a trip worth taking. For a taste of local lifestyle, Eastern Shore Centre is a community space with shopping, live entertainment and dining by the water fountain.  At our salt water port, the USS Battleship Alabama and Submarine USS Drum are docked alongside a 175-acre park dedicated to Alabama veterans and active military.
